Our Story

Founded on the firm belief in doing the right thing, AS Colour strives to uphold responsible global operations despite its relatively small-scale operations. They take their time with every product and focus on designing and producing premium apparel that stands the test of time.

“We believe it is the responsibility of every individual to be a good citizen, and while being a small player in a global market can at times be daunting, we believe our impact on human rights can be just as significant as larger operations and that we can all make a difference.”

As they continuously develop their Responsible Sourcing Strategy, AS Colour has revised their Code of Conduct to reinforce a zero-tolerance stance on bonded labour, which is unfortunately prevalent in some of the countries they source from. They have also improved their Child Labour Remediation protocol and initiated steps to reduce the risks and vulnerabilities faced by women in the apparel supply chain, especially in the lower tiers.

Currently, AS Colour has 100% transparency of their supply chain, fabric and yarn sources and 95% transparency of raw cotton agents. Gaining transparency over cotton origin is the hardest part of supply tracing, to gain better visibility, they are working with Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), Cotton Australia and are expanding their Organic Cotton Program.

AS Colour weaves fairness into the fabric of their practices, starting with how they source their garments. They seek to find and work with factory owners and management who share their values, operate a culture of dignity and respect, are in for the long term, and are willing to embrace change and continuous improvement. The majority of their factories in South Asia are participants in the Bangladesh Accord and have completed or are on track with any remediation work.

We seek out the best factories in each product and may interview up to fifty factories before selecting one to make our products.

They also partner with Reemi to provide garment workers in their Bangladesh factories access to menstrual health education, help tackle social stigmas and increase awareness of hygiene risks. Together, Reemi and AS Colour have produced and distributed culturally appropriate period products to end health risks that affect up to 73% of Bangladeshi factory workers, who are forced to miss work during their period.

Where environmental sustainability is concerned, AS Colour is doing their part for the planet by reducing plastic in their supply chain and operations, wherever possible. They have also teamed up with Upparel to help reduce the environmental impact of fashion by encouraging customers to drop off their unwanted or unwearable textiles at their Ponsonby store, ensuring these items get a second life.

You can read through their Social Responsibility page for a better understanding of how their products are made, their certifications and community partnerships.
