About

REEMI is a social enterprise that wants to make sure that every menstruator has access to menstrual health education and sustainable menstrual products.

REEMI provides menstrual products and education to garment workers in Bangladesh - one of the most vulnerable countries in the world. To support this work, REEMI sells innovative period underwear to shoppers like you that use smart fabric technology to prevent odour and reduce infections.

100% of their profits support their work on menstrual innovation for garment workers in Bangladesh and their groundbreaking research on menstrual health in garment factories.

“Social sustainability is not just a core value because of our kaupapa, it is embedded in the fabric of who we are as REEMI.”

REEMI’s main product is their self-sterilising period underwear. One pair of undies can hold up to two regular tampons worth of blood. It can also be paired with menstrual cups for those with a heavier flow to ensure a 100% leak-proof and zero waste period.

Right now, REEMI is also offering a limited edition organic cotton t-shirt that has been made by the women that participated in their first menstrual education programme.

The poorest in the world are most affected by environmental degradation. Climate change has caused regular flooding, rising sea levels in Bangladesh while the impact of the polluting apparel industry has limited Bangladeshi’s access to clean water.

REEMI’s long-term goal is to ensure that their products are as long-lasting as possible, and made from an entirely sustainable supply chain. That’s why they were very particular in choosing the fabrics they use: Lenzing modal and CottonX.

Lenzing modal is known to be one of the most sustainable fibres sourced from sustainably grown beech trees and is turned into a fibre through a process where up to 95% is recovered.

CottonX is a smart fibre, fusing 100% natural cotton with copper oxide to provide the ultimate in skincare and protection. That means it’s soft on sensitive skin, and can even help reduce the risk of infections.

REEMI also reduces the consumption of non-renewable natural resources through:

  • Including a sustainability expert on their Board of Trustees

  • Board meetings held on Zoom since inception to reduce flights

  • Offsetting all flights with Ekos

  • Zero-plastic packaging made from recycled paper

When you buy a garment from REEMI, you are supporting transformational change for garment workers’ lives and the apparel industry at large.
