Bennetto Natural Foods makes their chocolate using organic and Fairtrade ingredients because they believe it is vital to the ongoing wellbeing of people, animals and the planet.

Bennetto Natural Foods Company was founded in 2010 by Lucy Bennetto from her kitchen benchtop. The majority of Bennetto chocolate products are hand made by Lucy and her team to this day.
As she was starting Bennetto, Lucy travelled to the Dominican Republic with a desire to see how cacao beans were grown. There, she learned how ethical sourcing from an organic and Fairtrade cocoa supplier was imperative to her values of making chocolate. These practices not only improve lives but also the quality and flavour of cocoa.
The majority of Bennetto’s cocoa is now sourced from Acopagro, a Fairtrade cooperative at the base of the Amazon Jungle in Peru. This long-standing cooperative supports education, opportunities for women and reforestation in the Amazon – while perfect growing conditions produce a vibrant and naturally-fruity organic cocoa.
This gives the Bennetto team peace of mind knowing that their farmers not only have a protected income, but are also given the education and support to produce quality and consistency in their yields.
In addition to cocoa, these farmers plant timber trees to increase their long-term income and offset all carbon emissions produced during the chocolate manufacturing process.

Through European agriculture programmes, Bennetto’s farmers gain additional ongoing support and direct assistance to improve their living standards and conserve the environment around them. This important support also includes:

Educational seminars to ensure ongoing personal development.
All of this kindness culminates in absolutely delicious organic, Fairtrade, vegan, carbon-neutral chocolate made with simple ingredients! That’s a treat to feel good about.
Currently, their chocolate comes in seven flavours including Intense Dark, Toasted Hazelnut and Orange with Chili. They also make two powered drinking chocolates.
As good as their products taste, Bennetto Natural Foods has always aimed to do more than simply produce great chocolate.
