THE BRANDS WE CHOOSE

We endorse brands who want to see a world where workers, producers, makers and creators are fairly rewarded for their work.

FIND FAIR includes brands where products or ingredients have been awarded at least one of:

  • Fairtrade

  • Rainforest Alliance

  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)

  • BCI (Better Cotton Initiative)

  • B Corp

  • SPCA certifications

  • A+ or A rating from Tearfund’s Ethical Fashion Guide

  • World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) member

With larger companies, fair&good looks for best practice code of conduct agreements with suppliers, robust supply chain auditing processes and easily accessible corporate social responsibility reports, while smaller community-based brands have close direct trading relationships.

Every brand or product we endorse is measured against our nine core values.

OUR VALUES

  • Workers along the supply chain receive fair wages, work in safe working conditions and their rights are upheld. Fair and stable prices are paid for crops and artisan products. No child, forced or trafficked labour.

Transparency
  • Supply chains are known and transparent from origin through to manufacturing (including sub-contractors), monitored, certified where possible, and available for all to see.

  • Livelihoods are protected, artisan skills are valued and the community benefits. Local producers are actively involved in decision making and leadership.

  • There is strong focus on empowering women and girls.

  • Vulnerable groups that are often excluded or exploited, such as those trafficked, the disabled, refugees and vulnerable children, are included and empowered.

  • From going organic to using natural fibres, reducing chemical and plastic use to efforts to mitigate climate change, the environment is valued and protected.

Cruelty Free
  • The SPCA’s criteria for assuring animals are not experiencing pain, distress, restriction or hunger are met, with the goal of giving animals a good life.

Giving Back
  • Social enterprise profits are invested into the community, local capacity is built or funds are raised for social justice causes.

Consistency
  • These values are consistently applied across the business from source to manufacture, product, packaging, fair labour, social empowerment and environmental protection.

THE PATH TO BEING ETHICALL

Ethical sourcing can be a journey and some products will have some but not all ingredients certified. However, companies who make continuous improvements may have their products included on that basis.

We evaluate ethical sourcing from developing countries, however some brands avoid risky ingredients by sourcing them from developed countries. FIND FAIR includes these brands on a “do no harm” basis.

If you know of a Fairtrade product not currently highlighted by FIND FAIR, or if you believe a company included in FIND FAIR is behaving unethically, please inform our quality control team at findfair@fairandgood.co.nz
